A Crafty Easter Blog Challenge

I came across this really cool blog last week, Happily Ever Crafter, and I decided to join Ted's Easter challenge because I could create something around the resurrection of Jesus.  I've never done an altered tin before so I thought I would try it and here's what came out!

This is just a tin pencil case I got from Tuesday Morning for $1.50.  I used acrylic and crackle paints to age the tin.  I received some tags and embellishments in a RAK from Janie :) and I went to town.

I had to incorporate things that could spell out the word CRAFT:
Crowns
Rock/glass pebble
Aged looked
Flowers
Tin

I had so much fun distressing this tin and writing bible verses on the tags, which gave me a chance to get into the word!  The verses on the tags are:

John 11:25-26
1 Peter 1:3
Matthew 28:5-7

So dig in when you get a chance!

The glass rock acts as a weight to keep the tin upright.

Some of my supplies; cloud paper/embellishments (on tags) - American Crafts; flowers - Heidi Grace.
Here are the paints I used, the crackle paint had great results but its really smelly (I let it dry in the garage) and takes a while to dry, but it was cheap.  With the craft paints you have to put on two or three coats because I found that it was easy to just peel off of the tin (after you use the crackle paint it will not peel off as easy)...maybe I could have sanded it first.  Maybe I'll try that next time or switch to spray paint or alcohol inks.

Anyway please let me know what you think or if you have any tips for me.  Thanks for stopping by!
